I’m checking out Micro.Blog out again, to see how it would work if I moved The Dent over.
The mix of short form tweet like posts and longer, more traditional blog type posts is hard for me to get my head around, if I’m honest, but I do really like the idea of Micro.Blog and the whole Indieweb thing in general, so I’ll see how it goes.
The thing is, Wordpress would be a more legitimate blogging platform, and I’ve made a rod for my own back by creating something like The Dent instead of sticking to a more personal blog. I had feedback that people seem to quite like the name of The Dent, so I’m even torn on that aspect.
It’s been said many times, by many wise people, that the place you write isn’t important, it’s the writing itself that’s important. It is, however, important to try and stick to a single location so that, if I’m kindly linked to by other people, I don’t proceed to break their links by moving home again and again.
What I really need to do is let go of the idea of having a standard, legitimate blog. I just don’t write frequently (or, lets be honest, well) enough to let that worry me. What I think I should do is just move The Dent content, and domain, to Micro.blog and just let my larger posts sit amongst my short microblog posts, and move on with my life. I want to use Sunlit more to share images, and move away from Instagram, but I then start mixing the personal with the blog aspect again.
Do any of you have any opinions on the above? What do you think I should do with The Dent / a personal blog?
